Other Useful Information

Team Formation.  T-Ball and Sluggers teams are formed primarily based on school and Buddy requests and do not require player evaluation.  Be sure your Buddy names your child as a Buddy.  AAA, Coast, and Majors require Player Evaluation.  Teams are formed by the coaches using the evaluation scores and a draft process.

Player Evaluations.  All AAA, Coast and Majors players MUST attend Player Evaluations.  Information from the Evaluations is used by the League to assist in balancing the teams.   The Evaluations take about one hour and players will be asked to demonstrate a variety of skills such as throwing, catching, hitting and running.  Parents may use this opportunity to complete their registration by showing the required documents: an original, certified birth certificate and proof of residence.

On rare occasions the League will invite an 8 year old to “play-up” in AAA and may allow certain players to attend Player Evaluations IF they 1—register in advance and, 2—submit a recommendation from a previous coach.  This information should be sent to the registrar@rnll.org.  Parents and players should be aware, however, that attending Player Evaluations does not guarantee placement in AAA.  The decision to move a player up will be made by the Player Agent and Division VP based on space availability and the player demonstrating the appropriate level of skill for the higher division.

Playing Up or Down.  The League does its best to place players in the division suitable to their age and skill level.  The League takes the safety of its players very seriously and therefore occasionally a player will be invited to play up if he/she demonstrates exceptional skill or down if they are not yet ready to play at the level appropriate to their age.   For more information please refer to “Playing Up or Down” in the Documents area of the website.

Practices and Games.  The schedule for team practices and games will be determined in February after registration closes and teams are formed.  Generally teams practice 2x per week and may have 1-2 games per week.  Games may be scheduled any day, including Sunday.  If you have specific conflicts, please notify your coach.

Equipment.   The League provides game jerseys (which must be returned at the end of the season), batting helmets, bats, balls, catchers gear and all field equipment.  Players will need to provide:  a mitt, game pants, socks and a hat.  Often a parent will order equipment for the team to receive a discount.

Fields.  T-Ball and Sluggers play on their respective elementary school fields (Wilder, Dickinson and Alcott).  AAA, Coast and Majors will have practices and games primarily at Marymoor, Hartman and Redmond Ridge.

Waivers.  If you live outside RNLL boundaries would like to request a waiver to play in RNLL, you must apply before the close of registration, Dec. 14.  The League must submit all applications to the District for approval and the rules for approval are very narrow and specific.  Forms are available in the Documents area of the website.  If you have questions, please contact the registrar@rnll.org.

Financial Assistance.  If you require financial assistance to participate in the League, we encourage you to apply for a Scholarship.  Partial and Full assistance is available and we do offer payment plans.  The Form is available in the Documents area of the website and should be submitted to the registrar@rnll.org.
